Enp is pleased to announce the approval of $169, 250 in grants to the following 32 organizations:
Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services Society (Aldergrove)
Fraser Region Harvest Box. A grant to hire a technical assistance advisor with experience in the food sector to assist the organization.
BC Civil Liberties Association (Vancouver)
BCCLA Continuing Legal Education (CLE). A grant to fund a feasibility study for a social enterprise offering continuing legal education courses that will advance the BCCLA's educational mandate to promote human rights and civil liberties in BC.
BC Families in Transition (Victoria)
Employee & Family Assistance Service and Education Product Line. A grant to conduct market research and determine the feasibility of developing the organization's existing counselling and legal support services into (a) an "Employee and Family Assistance Provider (EFAP) Service" and (b) a set of educational DVDs for the public.
Bella Coola Valley Sustainable Agricultural Society (Bella Coola)
Community Shared Agriculture Project. A grant to support comprehensive business planning and feasibility for the organization's food distribution enterprise.
Castelgar & District Community Services Society (Castelgar)
2nd Hand Furniture, Home Goods & Building Supplies Store. A grant to conduct a feasibility study related to a second hand furniture, home goods and building supplies store.
Central Okanagan Foundation (Kelowna)
Cultural Management Services Co-op (CMSC). A grant to do a business plan to offer support services (fund development, marketing, financial management) to the Arts and Culture not-for-profit sector utilizing talent within and outside of the sector.
Coquitlam Farmers Market (Coquitlam)
Pocket Farmers Market Business Plan Development. A grant to prepare a comprehensive business plan to support the strategic development and branding of the organization's pocket farmers markets.
Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC (Vancouver)
CHOICES2: Reaching Out, Crisis Centre's youth suicide prevention DVD packages. A grant to hire a consultant to help the organization analyze its business venture.
Farm Folk / City Folk Society (Vancouver)
SharedHarvest: Online Food System Business Networking Tool. A grant to conduct a feasibility study for an online food system business and food rescue networking service.
Galiano Conservancy Association (Galiano Island)
Galiano Conservancy Native Plant Nursery. A grant to explore the feasibility of generating income to subsidize the organization's restoration activities, creating local off-season employment, and training a new generation of restorative entrepreneurs by expanding the organization's native plant nursery into an enterprise.
Horticulture Centre of the Pacific (Glendale Gardens) (Victoria)
Business Plan, Glendale Gardens. A grant to conduct a business plan to make Glendale Gardens sustainable by examining existing and potential revenue generating activities such as plant sales, rentals, admissions, gift shop, tours and educational programs.
Island Mountain Arts (Wells)
Island Mountain Arts Social Enterprise Development. A grant to conduct a market analysis for the organization's business.
Journey Home Community Association (Burnaby)
Journey Home Community Thrift Store. A grant to create a business plan for a thrift store as a social enterprise to generate revenue for JHC, provide work experience for refugees and increase community awareness.
Julien House Society - Westminster House (New Westminster)
Crew West - Feasibility Study. A grant to conduct a feasibility study for a handy person business aimed at property maintenance, mainly for other not for profit organizations and supporting the employment of women trainees.
Kitimat Community Services Society (Kitimat)
Community Outdoor Recreation Park. A grant to hire a consultant/facilitator to assist in exploring the organizational readiness for a social enterprise like the Community Outdoor Recreational Park.
Land Trust Alliance of BC (Salt Spring Island)
Living Carbon. A grant to follow up on governance consultation with a legal professional.
Malaspina Printmakers (Vancouver)
Capacity Building for Print Sales. A grant to develop a 3-year plan to build capacity for the Print Sales program resulting in increased productivity, increased revenue, and improved staff morale which will ultimately contribute to the financial sustainability of Malaspina Printmakers Society.
Muks-Kum-Ol Housing Society (Terrace)
IMAGINE Youth Initiative. A grant to explore options on how the organization can leverage the site of a former correctional site for use and location of social enterprises to serve Aboriginal and Metis youth in the community.
North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society (Kaslo)
Kaslo Food Security Project: Plenty of Food Services. A grant to conduct a feasibility study for a food preparation business that serves seniors, families and private parties, and provides training and skill development for individuals in the community who want to work in the food industry.
O.U.R. Ecovillage/O.U.R. Community Association (Shawnigan Lake)
ECO-Ag Tourism (EAT) Program Expansion. A grant to provide technical assistance to the organization with its social enterprise business and organizational development.
Okanagan School of the Arts (Penticton)
Shatford Arts Training and Entrepreneurial Development Centre. A grant to develop a comprehensive business plan for the expanded operations of Okanagan School of the Arts in the Shatford Arts Training and Entrepreneurial Development Centre.
Prince George Native Friendship Centre (Prince George)
The Gathering Place Hospitality and Catering Services. A grant to complete a feasibility study of the industry and options for additional services.
Public Dreams Society (Vancouver)
2010 Dragons Event Prize. A grant to plan for the strengthening of their existing social enterprise.
SOS Marine Conservation Foundation (Port McNeill)
Namgis Land-Based Closed Containment Recirculating Salmon Aquaculture Pilot Project. A grant to prepare a project execution plan to assist the 'Namgis First Nation to develop a demonstration land-based closed containment aquaculture project.
South Peace Enterprise Centre Society (Kiwanis Enterprise Centre) (Dawson Creek)
Review & Update Peace Media Social Enterprise Business Plan. A grant to review and improve KEC's 2008 Social Enterprise Business Plan - a Business Plan for employing youth at risk to learn about business, technology and sell advertising to businesses.
Spark Society for Youth - Spark Youth Centre (Kimberley)
LEES Learning Centre & Used Book & Music Store. A grant to develop a marketing plan for the organization's book and music store for the community out of the youth centre.
St Andrew's United Church (Golden)
Recycling Used Clothes into Insulation. A grant to conduct a feasibility study of the economical, social and environmental industrial process which creates building insulation using recycled waste clothes.
Storytellers Foundation (Hazelton)
Identification of Potential Social Enterprise Opportunities. A grant to conduct a business analysis of the organization's venture ideas.
Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (Sechelt)
Gibsons Thrift Shop. A grant to develop a marketing plan for the further development of an existing thrift shop.
T'Sou-ke Nation (Sooke)
T'Sou-ke Nation Clam Depuration and Harvest Program. A grant for technical assistance to secure the organization's business opportunity.
The Cleaning Solution (CMHA) (Vancouver)
Demonstrating The Cleaning Solution's Value. A grant to implement the Demonstrating Value project.
West Coast LEAF Association (Vancouver)
Consulting Services: Equality Audit. A grant to further explore the organization's identified market niche to ensure that there is an opportunity to develop a business in consulting.
