Developing Entrepreneurial Thinking

Developing Entrepreneurial Thinking

A prensentation of the 2007 Canadian Social Enterprise Conference, Vancouver, BC
Presenter: Michele Cherot, Greater Trail Community Skills Centre

Session Description:
What is entrepreneurial thinking? Can it be learned? The ability to think differently may not be recognized as one of the required elements of success when assuming the social enterprise model. One of the challenges not for profits face when adopting a social enterprise approach is the need for staff to think and problem solve differently from traditional non-profit experiences. This session will present the concept of entrepreneurship and how the social enterprise approach can be used to address social issues. Personal belief systems regarding business and social responsibility will be explored to create an understanding of thought processes and decision-making in both the not-for-profit and business sectors. By using interactive methods, participants will have the opportunity to use an entrepreneurial approach to identify different questions that may lead toward new outcomes and solutions.
