Did you know that many summer camps are social enterprises?
Check out the video below to learn about East Seals camps in BC.
Easter Seals camps offer summer camp programs for children with disabilities. As they don't charge participants for the camps this part of their operations isn't a social enterprise - the summer camps are part of their non-profit activities. In the off season, however, the camps are available for private rentals - for family reunions, conferences, school camping trips, retreats and even weddings. Revenues from off-season rentals help the camps offset the costs of their summer programs.
Next time you're looking at organizing a retreat or family reunion between September and June, why not consider supporting a social enterprise and hold your event at a summer camp?
There are three Easter Seals camps in BC: Camp Winfield (in the Okanagan), Camp Squamish (in the Lower Mainland) and Camp Shawnigan (on Vancouver Island).
The video below shows you what Easter Seals Camps offer in their summer programs, but it's also a good way to see what their facilities and programs can offer private groups too.
